Transition Tales 2011

Following on from the workshops and shows of the previous year in association with Transition Buxton, we began a new Transition Tales project together to address the issues of climate change, sustainability and the use of resources.

The project involved the devision of a piece of shadow theatre by Doug Agnew and accompanying music played by ‘Shadowhouse’ musicians Laurie Agnew and Liam Morson with instruments they built out of junk and rubbish.

The piece centred around an old Japanese tale about a boy called Urashima-Tarō who is a fisherman and goes on an underwater adventure. We adapted the story to address pollution of the world’s oceans and not being able to provide food for his family.

The piece was performed in schools and at our Transition Tales show in the Buxton Puppet Festival 2011.
