#ChangingFaces

Changing Faces 2018/2019

Our Changing Faces started in 2017. It is a creative, after-school club for young people aged 11-18yrs in Buxton who face daily difficulties and disadvantage. We provide a range of creative activities, giving participants choice of what they want to do. Savoury snacks and fruit cordial are offered.

Workshops started on Tuesday 11 September 2018 for the autumn term and restarted on 30th April running until mid-July 2019. As part of the project, we also took part in the Buxton Carnival parade. See our activities for this here.

Workshops were supported by Children in Need, High Peak CVS Health & Wellbeing Partnership and The Bingham Trust.

Activities

During the autumn term, tried making pasta crazy golf courses, made different types of doodles, created a stained-glass effect window display on the theme of ‘what are you scared of?’ This was displayed in The Green Man Gallery’s workshop room window during Halloween.  We also tried rapping, marionette-making, Christmas card-making, making an entry for the Buxton Festival Fringe programme cover competition and we made lots of slime! None of which ended up on the ceiling*.

In the spring term, we made dream-catchers, tried embroidery, stencil-making and spray painting and worked towards our Buxton Carnival entry. See more about this on the project page here.

*Some may have ended up on the ceiling.
