Coasting for Carnival
It was Buxton Carnival at the weekend, a high point of the Buxton Wells Dressing Festival, and we paraded as a human rollercoaster!
We have spent the last month getting a team together and making the rollercoaster cars/boxes/seats (we never really settled on a name for them!) and making fake legs. Workshops were held at The Green Man Gallery and were supported by the High Peak Borough Council Councillor’s Initiative Fund.
We won first prize in our judging class and the trophy for the overall best walking group!
We’ve had lots of really positive feedback.
To see more photos and videos of “the ride” see our project page here.
As the rain held out the cars/boxes/seats survived the day. We are therefore looking for another group to take and use them. Please get in touch if you would like them!
We’ve also made our puppets for a G&S show but more about that in our next post. The next events we are working towards are our workshops at the Buxton Museum & Art Gallery for the Buxton Family Festival. More information coming soon!
