Buxton Puppet Festival 2008

In 2008, the Buxton Puppet Festival once again had an international presence and 2008 was the year of the Indians. After Japan, India seemed practically next door. So it was that Anurupa Roy joined the team bringing a very different flavour to the festival.

Funny Wonders hosted Anurupa Roy’s Katkatha Puppetry Troop from New Dehli. Photos from the visit can be seen by clicking on the photo to the right. Various activities were presented including workshops, gigante puppet parades, a scratch night and street theatre.

Funny Wonders also ran a workshop at The Devonshire Dome and the Youth Group performed their production ‘The Silk Road’ on the Buxton Opera House stage. Click on the photos below to see photos of the workshops, rehearsals and performances.

The festival also featured performances by Objects Dart, Thingumajig Theatre, Presto Puppet Theatre, Nori Sawa, Ramshackle Theatre, Diddley Dee Puppets, Raventales, Lempen Puppet Theatre, Rouge 28 Theatre, Idolrich theatreRotto Productions, WaxBaby Productions, About Face Theatre and Octopi Puppet Theatre.
