We’ve made the Plastic Free Pledge!

At our February 2021 Board of Directors meeting, we agreed to make the Plastic Free Pledge to support Transition Buxton‘s aim of making the town a (single use) Plastic Free Community! As an organisation, we are committed to having as little an environmental impact as possible and we work to reuse, repurpose and recycle our making resources (donations welcome!). We also offset our carbon footprint by planting trees. See our Environmental Policy here.

We pledge to:

1) work to remove at least three single-use plastic items from our day to day activities – we don’t use single-use plastics in our day-to-day activities but we pledge to no longer buy plastic cups, plastic cutlery or plastic straws for our events. We will, however, use up those we have, including those donated to us.

2) commit to include our stance on single-use plastic in communications – we pledge to include a line in our email signatures advertising our pledge. We will also include the pledge on our website, social media profiles and in appropriate promotional materials.

3) raise awareness and support plastic free initiatives in the community – we raise awareness by reusing and repurposing a range of materials at our making activities including plastics such as plant pots, milk bottles and bottle caps. We rarely buy new materials. We support Transition Buxton and its initatives when and where we can and use their Hard-to-Recycle items bins as appropriate.

All businesses and community groups in Buxton are encouraged to sign up. Find out more on their website and make the pledge! www.transitionbuxton.co.uk/plastic-2/
