Funny Wonders Family During Lockdown – Darcy Flint
Next up in our peek at our alumni – Darcy Flint.
FWinc Family: Darcy Flint
Lockdown Location: St Ives, Cornwall
Current Work Status: furloughed from a part-time job, busy painting
Darcy was another of our Sapporo cohort in the mid-noughties and is embarking on a career as an artist. After school in Buxton and college in Macclesfield, he lived in Plymouth for 8 years, having attended university there and, following a brief spell back in Buxton – you may have seen him at The Green Man Gallery, Darcy now lives in Cornwall.
With his additional time during lockdown, he is taking the opportunity to paint even more including finishing a couple of commissions.
On Funny Wonders, Darcy says “I think Chris and Doug were very important in a lot of people’s lives. Personally, they gave me the most exciting opportunity of my youth: a creative trip to Japan. They seemed to me to have a different level of energy, one which was fuelled by passion, optimism and a love for everything they threw themselves into. This is probably their greatest influence on myself, and I know if I can channel a similar ethos, I will continue to develop as an artist.”
