The Silk Road 2007
Ahead of our international trip to Japan in August 2007, Sapporo Meets Buxton, our youth group worked to develop a piece of shadow puppetry which they would perform at the Buxton Puppet Festival 2007 and during the trip.
We ran weekly workshops during June and July at Buxton Community School, followed by a week of full-day workshops and rehearsals during the Buxton Puppet Festival including two with Master Puppeteer, Nori Sawa. Through exploration of the theme ‘east meets west and experimentation, the group set upon devising a theatre piece inspired by the Silk Road’.
The piece was performed at Buxton Community School on 26 July 2007.
