#ChangingFaces

Changing Faces 2017/2018

Our Changing Faces project aimed to support young people aged 11-18yrs in Buxton and surrounding area who face daily difficulties.

The project involves weekly, after-school creative workshops which ran between September 2017 and July 2018. At the workshops, we try lots of different arts, many chosen by the young people themselves.

Workshops were supported by Children in Need.

Below are some pictures from the workshops and a couple of videos, including our glowstickman dance!

As part of the project, we also took part in the Buxton Carnival parade. See our activities for this here.

Activities

During the autumn term, we made stained-glass window-effect illustrations, writing a stand-up comedy routine and performing with glove puppets, singing, pumpkin carving for Halloween, Christmas-card making and marionette making involving sculpture, papier-mache, painting and costume design.

In the winter term, we tried calligraphy, shadow puppetry, making slime, dancing and we made a glowstickman dance video!

In the spring term, we did stencil-making and spray painting, creating a mural for The Green Man Gallery. We also made flowerpot people for the Buxton Flowerpot Trail and made our ‘banner puppet’ creations for Buxton Carnival parade – find out more about this here.
