Residential Weekend at Losehill Hall 2002

Over 12-14 April 2002, we ran a residential course for young people at the Losehill Hall in Castleton, Derbyshire supported by The National Lottery Awards for All grant scheme. Participants explored different types of puppetry, puppet-building materials, muscial accompaniment and performance skills, watched professional puppeteers perform and made puppets of their own. The project was delivered in association with Peak Puppets, Robin Lawrence and Nigel Lawton of Presto Puppets, marionette-makers Ian Denny and Glenn Holden, and local artist, Ruby Moon. At the end of the weekend, we put on a show of short performances for friends and family.

We also performed on 3rd June at the ‘Picnic in the Park’ celebrations for the Queen’s Golden Jubilee, supported by High Peak Borough Council and CJ Booth. The group performed indoors as “the weather was appalling”!

That’s the best puppet show I’ve ever seen.

Video Footage of the Grand Performance

Unfortunately, most of the VHS tape of edited footage of the weekend was lost due to being recorded over by an episode of The Young Ones! Here’s what we could recover…
